Jun 16, 2025 | Martina Sikorová

August in Třinec traditionally belongs to the international President Cup tournament for players under 17 – one of the most prestigious youth hockey events in Europe. And this year will be no different! Teams from across the Czech Republic and Europe will battle for the trophy from Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10.

The tournament kicks off a day earlier, on Thursday, August 7, with a skills competition and the official opening ceremony at the VIP restaurant of WERK ARENA. During the ceremony, the teams will be drawn into two groups. Each group will consist of five teams playing a round-robin format.

The winners of each group will advance to the final, while the runners-up will face off for the bronze medal. Placement games will also be held for the teams finishing third, fourth, and fifth in their groups.

This year’s lineup will see only minor changes from the previous edition. Representing the Czech Republic will once again be the home team Oceláři, along with Sparta, Karlovy Vary, Hradec Králové, and Vítkovice. From abroad, Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia), Red Bull Salzburg (Austria), HS Riga (Latvia), and Rögle BK (Sweden) will take part. After a short break, Swiss team Davos will also return to the tournament.

The full schedule (including links to live streams) will be available on the official President Cup website following the opening ceremony. Stay updated by following the tournament on Facebook and Instagram – @tourneyhco.

Entry to all games remains free, and all youth hockey fans are warmly invited to attend!
